Oh you think YOU work with weirdos…
Lord Heaven Y’all, I am TIRED! The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival hiked up its heels and started dancing last weekend, and Thursday kicks off the second weekend. Remember that old tagline for the Peace Corps about it being the hardest job you’ll ever love? Peace Corps ain’t never worked for Jazz Fest. And I love it! Tired as I am, the infield of the Jazz Fest has owned a large slice of the My Happy Place pie since 1985.
So, I don’t have a lot of time to tell you stuff this evening; last week I missed this email altogether I was so busy! Last week’s pod-guest in who you can (of course, because you know how podcasts work) still listen to whenever you’d like to, was Chris Clarkson, author of “One Night on Frenchman Street”, one of the interviews we did at Frenchman Art and Books, on April 15th. I had not met Chris before that day, but we had a great time talking about his book, life, how the twain met, where it’s all going, and all about his writing life.
Tonight we launch an episode called, “Come Fly With Me” with my good friend Tom, whose last name we’re not mentioning because we really want him to keep his job with the airline he’s worked with for many years now.
You can’t hit a social media link without reading about or watching some recent weird-ass smackdown with an out-of-control airline passenger, and Tom is here to tell it all! Tom is a flight attendant; a job I can’t imagine doing for half an hour – much less all week every week, and yet he does it and boy, does he have some stories to tell! He’s very entertaining anyway, and never more so than when telling stories these days about what goes on in those silver tubes in the sky.
As always, you can find it at www.Nandlandia.com, or wherever in the world you find your podcasts.
I’m not going to write much more tonight because if I do, I’ll fall forward and my head will hit the keyboard and I’ll be asleep, just like a cartoon character (or a three year-old at dinner sleeping in a plate of spaghetti.) And then you’ll never get this and it will all be for naught. But I do want to tell you how much I enjoy hearing from you, both in person and by email about this podcast and your thoughts about it. I’m extremely honored that you’re listening, you’re enjoying it, and it’s taking its place in your brain as one of those Things That Make You Say, “Hmmm.” It’s an extreme honor to hear that from you.
Thank you and Good Night - and I'll be MUCH more talkative next week. And I will hope I don't find a huge-ass opossum in my kitchen like I did last year on the closing night of Jazz Fest.
